The Director of Education for the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board says he’s learned a lot about his senior administration team because of what he terms a crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Sean Monteith told a virtual meeting of the school board’s Committee of the Whole that the pandemic has caused an upheaval in the system and that they are in uncharted waters.
Senior administration and many others with the board have been working seven days a week reacting to the rapidly evolving situation.
Monteith said he’s come to appreciate that his staff have each other’s backs and are handling the crisis as best they can, adding he’s sure they’ll emerge as a stronger team because of the experience.
The Director says staff now will start focusing on normal school board business such as budgeting, staffing, and planning for the future.
