Madoc Public School will remain open for at least one more school year.
Construction work has been shut down by the provincial government because of the COVID-19 pandemic and that means an addition and other renovations at Centre Hastings Secondary School will not be finished by this September.
In fact any decision on who will build the addition to the high school to allow for over 50 elementary school students has been deferred.
It’s hoped the renovations will be done by September of next year.
The Hastings Prince Edward School Board has set aside $5.8 million for the amalgamation, which includes the cost of demolishing Madoc Public School.
