The Belleville Police Service responded to 50 calls for service between April 10, 2020 at 5 a.m. and April 11, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Domestic Assault investigation
On April 10, 2020 at 3:55 p.m., police attended at a domestic disturbance in Thurlow Ward. Several witnesses were on scene who had stopped to render assistance to the victim. Both witnesses and the victim had been assaulted but did not require medical attention. The suspect had fled on foot prior to police arrival. An arrest warrant is being sought for a 23-year-old Belleville man for six counts of assault and three counts of forcible confinement.
Traffic Enforcement
On April 10, 2020 at 11:04 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on Moira Street East. Police say the driver was also a suspended driver. The 36-year-old driver was charged with speeding – 70 km/h in a 40 km/h zone and driving while under suspension. He will appear in Traffic Court on June 1.
On April 10, 2020 at 8:08 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on West Moira Street. The 42-year-old driver was confirmed to be a suspended driver. He will appear in Traffic Court on July 6, 2020 on a charge of driving while under suspension.
Arrested on warrants
On April 10, 2020 at 9:51 p.m., police say they recognized a man on Tracey Park Drive who was wanted on outstanding warrants. Joseph Michael McDonald, a 24-year-old from Belleville, was arrested without incident. He was released with a court date of June 11. His charges include theft under $5,000 and four counts of breach of probation.
