The COVID-19 trickle down on the local economy continues with a Belleville auto parts manufacturer being forced into temporary layoffs.
An official with Hanon Systems tells Quinte News the company has had to make layoffs “as a result of automakers suspending production” and that due to the pandemic it’s difficult to predict when production will resume.
The company says its priority is to “maintain a focus on the health and well-being of employees, as well as to adequately respond to industry developments and adjust production plans to align with customer demand”.
In line with company policy, the spokesperson says the number of people who have been laid off won’t be released.
