The Quinte region’s winter months this season have been a lot wetter than usual.
According to Environment Canada and readings taken at CFB Trenton, the months of December, January, February and March were more about rain than snow.
Over those four months 255 millimetres (about 10 inches) of rain fell which is 60% higher than the historical average of154 mm (about 4 inches).
As far as snow is concerned the news isn’t that drastic. Environment Canada reports 133 centimetres of the white stuff fell in December, January, February, and March.
That’s just a little less than the normal 141 cm for that time period in the Quinte region.
Not surprisingly, average daily high and low temperatures were a little warmer than the historical average.
