On April 1, 2020 at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers with the Lennox and Addington County (L&A) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 westbound.
A vehicle travelling at 180 km/h in a posted 100 km/h zone was stopped near Marysville.
While officers were investigating, the driver left the scene and continued driving in a careless manner west on Highway 401.
Quinte West OPP assisted L&A County OPP and a second stop of the driver was successfully completed.
As a result of the investigation L&A County OPP have charged a 45-year-old from Quebec contrary to the Highway Traffic Act with
- Careless driving,
- Stunt driving; and
- Fail to stop for police
The driver’s licence was seized and suspended and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The driver was given a summons to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Greater Napanee at a later date.
