“As of 12:00 p.m., this afternoon, March 31, 2020, I have declared a Public Emergency in accordance with the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act,” stated Rick Phillips, Reeve of the Township of Tyendinaga.
“Having conferred with my fellow township councillors and our senior staff, it is my opinion that it is necessary for me as Reeve, to make the declaration at this time.
We are taking these measures for the following reasons:
•A strong show of support for the Provincial Government, Hastings County and all other local and municipal Declarations of Emergency.
•To support the continuity of operations of the Township in order to continue to provide services to the residents in our Township.
•Taking the necessary actions to support the health and safety of our staff.
“The Township of Tyendinaga has already taken steps to ensure that it has its continuity of operations plans in place and continues to deliver essential/critical services to the public. We have taken the necessary step of closing our Municipal Office, Library, Fire Hall and Recreation Facilities to the walk-in public. Our staff continue to provide services through on-line and phone arrangements,” added Phillips.
“On behalf of The Township of Tyendinaga we strongly believe in and recommend all residents of every municipality follow the social distancing and isolation guidelines being promoted by our health care experts. We will continue to support our neighbouring municipalities, residents and staff during this unprecedented event.”stated Phillips.
