Kruger paper mill in Trenton is back up and running after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
Kruger Products General Manager John O’Hara confirmed in a press release one of their employees tested positive for the virus.
The press release states all employees who were working in the same area within the specific time period were advised to self-isolate for 14 days and monitor symptoms.
Quinte News has learned the plant reopened on Monday night after a deep cleaning of the facility took place on the weekend.
O’Hara says they will continue the numerous precautionary measures that were introduced, including an escalation of their daily cleaning and sanitization protocols.
Affected employees are anticipated to be able to return to work on April 8.
A representative from Hastings Prince Edward Public Health would not confirm or deny a positive test for the Kruger employee, but as of Monday at 2 p.m. when they spoke to Quinte News, there were only seven positive cases in Hastings and Prince Edward counties and all were travel or close contact related.
By Tuesday morning at 9:20 a.m., the website states there are 219 probable cases in Hastings Prince Edward, with still only seven confirmed cases.
