Environment Canada issued storm warnings for the area this (Sunday afternoon).
The national forecaster says severe thunderstorms which feature torrential rain and high wind gusts are moving east through the Quinte region via Lake Ontario.
The worst weather is expected in the Picton and Napanee areas with less intense storms to be expected to the north of those areas.
The storms could also produce large hail and could cause property damage and flash flooding in some areas.
