Effective this Saturday, March 28, Belleville Transit will be temporarily moving to On-Demand Services only. There will be no scheduled fixed-route service until further notice as we continue to work through the COVID-19 situation.
As a result of COVID-19, Belleville Transit ridership has decreased by 80%. We would like to thank all passengers for practicing social distancing and only using the bus for essential travel. As a result of this ridership decrease, Transit will be reducing the number of buses operating each day. Service will continue to be provided from 5 a.m. to 12 a.m. Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday and 8 a.m. to 12 a.m. on Sunday.
We ask that passengers continue to use our services only for essential trips (employment, groceries, pharmacy, etc.) and that all nonessential trips (social-based trips) are avoided.
Customers can book trips by:
- App – “On-Demand Transit – Rider App” is available for download in at The App Store and Google Play and can be used to book rides any time of day for any time of service.
- Online – btletsgo.ca website can be used to book rides any time of day for any time of service using a laptop or computer.
- Phone – Passengers can contact us at 613-962-1925 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and book rides for any time of service.
- Email – Passengers can contact us at bellevilletransit@belleville.ca for any time of service. An email confirmation will be sent that request was received and ride booked.
We ask that passengers continue to load/exit the bus at the rear doors, except passengers that require the ramp. Ridership will be capped at 20 passengers per vehicle and every other seat on board the bus will be closed off to ensure proper social distancing of passengers.
Specialized transit service will continue to operate but passenger loads will be restricted to not more than two ambulatory and two wheelchair passengers on board at one time.
We ask that you please do not use the bus unless it is an absolute necessity, if you are ill or exhibiting any symptoms do not ride the bus. Residents are reminded to practice recommended hygiene etiquette while utilizing transit including:
- Cough and sneeze into the bend of your arm, not into your hand
- Practice social distancing where possible by maintaining a distance of two metres
- Stay home when you are sick and avoid contact with other people until your symptoms are gone
- Washing hands as soon as possible or once you’ve reached your destination
