Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m., Ontario Premier Doug Ford declared a State of Emergency for the province.
He stated that any events or gatherings of 50 people or more are prohibited until at least March 31.
Ford says that includes recreation programs, private schools, day cares, theatres, cinemas, and more.
He did make the point that it is not a provincial shutdown, that essential services will continue.
Ford added that transit, office buildings, construction sties, health care facilities still operate.
Todd Smith is the Minister of Children, Community, and Social Services, and the MPP for the Bay of Quinte riding. He says they consulted heavily with medical officials before taking such a serious position.

As part of the declaration by the Premier, a $300 million relief fund will be released.
