If you’ve been charged under the Provincial Offences Act and were slated to appear in court anywhere from Monday March 16 to April 3 you don’t need to show up. All matters have been adjourned as a precaution against the spread of the coronavirus.
The Ontario Superior Court of Justice will be closed as of Tuesday March 17 to all matters except urgent health and safety concerns, until further notice.
The Ontario Court of Justice has cancelled all trials for the next 10 weeks except where the accused is already in custody. Bail hearings and urgent motions will be dealt with.
The Ontario Court of Appeal as seeking to adjourn all non-urgent appeals until April 30.
Meanwhile all visitation to provincial and federal jails has been cancelled.
