Belleville Police Service responded to 82 calls for service from March 14, 2020 at 5 a.m. to March 15, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Shoplifter Arrested and Held for Bail
On March 14, 2020 at 4:30 p.m., police responded to a business on Dundas Street East regarding a female shoplifter. Police attended and conducted an investigation that revealed a woman had attempted to steal $130 worth of merchandise. A 43-year-old Belleville woman was arrested and charged with theft under $5,000 and breach of probation. Further investigation revealed that the woman was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from the Belleville Police Service. Upon searching the woman, she was also found to be in possession of crystal meth, resulting in an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance. She was transported to the Belleville Police Service where she is being held for bail.
Belleville No Frills Shoplifters Arrested
On March 14, 2020 at 4:45 p.m., police responded to No Frills regarding two women shoplifting. Police attended and their investigation revealed that two women attempted to steal $90 worth of merchandise before being caught by No Frills loss prevention officers. The women were both charged by police. Fifty-nine-year-old Katherine Norris of Belleville was charged with theft under $5,000 and released on an appearance notice with a court date of April 1, 2020 to face the charge. A 26-year-old Belleville woman was charged with engaging in prohibited activity on premise under the trespass to property act and she was release on a provincial offences notice.
On March 14, 2020 at 2 p.m., police responded to No Frills regarding a male shoplifter. Police attended and their investigation revealed that a 40-year-old Belleville man was in custody for theft after No Frills loss prevention officers found him attempting to steal $20 worth of merchandise. Police charged the man with engaging in prohibited activity on premise under the trespass to property act and he was release on a provincial offences notice.
Theft of Bicycle
On March 14, 2020 at 3:30 p.m., police responded to a residence on Dundas Street East regarding a report of a stolen bicycle. An investigation revealed that sometime between March 12 and March 14, a Columbia 26″ Rambler, with a black frame, brown seat and handles with large thick tires was stolen from the property. Shoplifters Charged
On March 14, 2020 at 4:15 p.m., police responded to a business on Millennium Parkway regarding a shoplifter. An investigation revealed that a 58-year-old Belleville woman attempted to steal merchandise from the business. As a result, she was charged with engaging in prohibited activity on premise under the trespass to property act and she was released on a provincial offences notice.
On March 14, 2020 at 8:30 p.m., police responded to a business on Millennium Parkway regarding a man and woman shoplifting. An investigation revealed that both parties attempted to steal $80 worth of merchandise. As a result of the investigation, police charged 18-year old McKayla Burkett of Marmora and a 17-year-old man from Marmora, whose name cannot be released as he is a young offender, with theft under $5,000. Both were released on an appearance notice and given a court date of April 14 to face the charges.
