The Director of Education for the Hastings Prince Edward School Board says he knows some people will criticize the the provincial government decision to close schools for two weeks after the March break due to fears about the spread of the coronavirus.
However Sean Monteith believes the safety of students, staff, and the wider community is of paramount concern and he is comfortable with the decision.
Meanwhile Monteith, speaking with Sean and Orlena on MIX 97 says custodial staff will be especially diligent in all the schools next week.
Director of Education Monteith says online learning could be much more of a focus through any extended school closure.
