The Quinte West Fire Department was kept busy last night (Tuesday).
First there was a house fire around 6 o’clock at 1238 Jamieson Road in Murray Ward.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says firefighters from the north Murray hall responded. The older wood frame house was seriously damaged in the amount of over $100,000.
No one was injured and the cause is believed to be electrical.
Then at around 10 o’clock a small barn used as a chicken coop went up in flames on Aikins Road just north of Hamilton Road.
Forty chickens lost their lives in the fire. There were no other injuries and the cause again is believed to be electrical.
Firefighters from the Bayside and Tucker’s Corners halls responded.
