Suspicious death in Bancroft

One person has died after a home assault in Bancroft Sunday night.

Around 9:00 p.m., officers with the Bancroft detachment responded to a home on Faraday Street, after they received a call about an assault.

Officers and paramedics located a 69-year-old man at the scene that was injured.

He was taken by EMS to hospital, but was pronounced dead.

The Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and the OPP helicopter searched the area and arrested a suspect around 4:30 a.m. Monday.

The Criminal Investigations Branch and Forensic Identification Unit are investigating.

On March 8, 2020 at approximately 9:00 p.m. officers with the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault at a home on Faraday Street in Bancroft, Ontario

OPP officers and Hastings-Quinte Paramedic Services located an injured 69 year old male at the scene.

The victim was transported by ambulance, but was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and the OPP helicopter conducted a search of the area and arrested the suspect shortly after 4:30 a.m. on March 9, 2020.

The investigation remains ongoing with members of the Bancroft OPP Crime Unit and East Region Forensic Identification Services (FIS) under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB).
