More than 70 charges in Bancroft investigation

Weapons and drug charges have been laid against numerous residents from North Hastings.

On Thursday evening, the OPP’s Street Crime Unit, Tactics and Rescue Unit, Emergency Response Team, and Bancroft OPP, raided a home on Woodview Lane in Bancroft.

Officers seized cocaine, methamphetamine, cash, stolen property, and other drug-related materials.

Six people are facing more than 70 charges.

Thirty-year-old David Vautour, 23-year-old Carl Gilbank, 25-year-old Sharayah Woodcock, 32-year-old Richard Demers and 31-year-old Jennifer Cox all of Bancroft, and JesseWhiteside of Hastings Highlands, are each facing numerous weapons and drug charges, among others.

On March 5, 2020 shortly after 8:00 p.m. the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), members from the Bancroft Detachment, Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a warrant at a residence on Woodview Lane in the Town of Bancroft.

As a result, investigators seized a quantity of controlled substance suspected to be cocaine and methamphetamine along with cash, drug related materials and stolen property.

Richard DEMERS, 32 years of age from Bancroft, has been charged with:

Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
Possession of a prohibited device
Fail to comply with a prohibition order – 4 counts
Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts
Fail to comply with a release order – 7 counts

Jennifer COX, 31 years of age from Bancroft has been charged with:

Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
Possession of a prohibited device
Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

Jesse WHITESIDE, 21 years of age from the Municipality of Hastings Highlands has been charged with:

Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
Possession of a loaded firearm
Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Possession of a prohibited device
Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

Sharayah WOODCOCK, 25 years of age from Bancroft has been charged with:

Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
Possession of a prohibited device
Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

Carl GILBAN K, 23 years of age from Bancroft has been charged with:

Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
Possession of a prohibited device
Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

David VAUTOUR, 30 years of age from Bancroft has been charged with:

Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – 2 counts
Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
Careless storage of a firearm – 2 counts
Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 2 counts
Possession of a prohibited device
Fail to comply with a prohibition order – 4 counts
Possession of property obtained by crime – 2 counts

All accused were held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
