For the the first half of the first period the Whitby Fury were feeling pretty good about themselves. Then the proverbial roof fell on them at the Trenton Community Gardens.
After falling behind 2-0 the Golden Hawks filled the net finishing with a 10-2 romp and a 3-0 lead on Whitby in their OJHL East Division semi final. Jared Gerger led the way for Trenton with 3 goals. He says the G-Hawks weren’t concerned about the early deficit.
Matt Nastasiuk, Cameron Gaylor, Sean Detlof and Colin Van Den Hurk had a goal and assist with Josh Wright adding four assists.
The Golden Hawks can end the series with a win in Whitby on Friday night however coach Peter Goulet says his team won’t have that mindset.
The Wellington Dukes are also in position to sweep when they face the Cougars in Cobourg for Game 4 of their series tomorrow (Thurs) night.
