The Trenton Golden Hawks wasted no time getting on the scoresheet and never looked back as they beat the Whitby Fury 4-1 to take a 2-0 lead in their OJHL East Division semi final.
Tyler Nielsen scored 67 second into the game which touched off a 3 goal first period.
Dalton Bancroft, Colin Van Den Hurk and Andrew Suriyuth added singles as Trenton outshot Whitby 51-34. Anand Oberoi was in goal for the G-Hawks.
Game 3 is in Trenton tomorrow night.
It was a different story in Wellington where the Dukes had to come from behind to beat Cobourg 4-3 in overtime.
Quinn Hanna’s power play goal late in the third tied the game. Hanna then assisted on Jake Gagnon’s winner at 11:39 of o.t.
The Cougars capitalized on 2 of 9 power plays. Dukes coach Derek Smith says they have to be more disciplined in Game 3 tonight(Monday) in Cobourg.
Brett Humberstone and James White also scored for Wellington. The Dukes outshot the Cougars 43-32. Matthew Dunsmoor was in goal for Wellington.
Wellington leads the series 2-0.
