An annual fundraiser and awareness campaign to help with food insecurity in the area is underway for another year.
Shamrocks on the Wall raises funds for the Tri-County Warehouse and Gleaners Food Bank.
On Sunday evening at the Dugout Grill in Belleville, dozens gathered for the Shamrocks launch. A prime rib dinner, live auction, and prizes were part of the evening.
Sarah Kring is with Gleaners Food Bank.
About $3,000 was raised.
Shamrocks on the Wall goes until March 17 and Kring says the shamrocks are available at a number of locations.
Local retailers, banks, restaurants, pubs and other establishments will have shamrocks on hand and the public can donate for a chance to win.
Participating establishments display gift baskets and consumers have the choice to donate $2 per shamrock or 3 for $5.
They could not only to win that location’s basket, but also enter to win the grand prize of one (1) ounce of gold.
