A marijuana growing operation is being proposed for part of a big industrial warehouse building in Belleville’s east end.
Belleville’s Planning Advisory Committee will see a rezoning application that could allow an almost 6,000 square metre marijuana production facility in the 12,000 square metre building at 665 Dundas Street East.
The proposal does not include a retail outlet and predicts that at full capacity up to 40 jobs per shift would be created.
A public meeting will be held on the rezoning Monday afternoon (March 2) at 5:30 at city hall and after public comment, staff will make a recommendation at a future meeting.
Along with the city, Health Canada would also be involved in an approvals process before the facility could become a reality.
