There were some tense moments earlier this morning as Mohawk protesters lit a fire as an eastbound train moved through Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Protesters have staged at Camp B, near Hwy. 49 after police moved in and tore down the Wyman Road camp on Monday.
Fires were lit beside and on the tracks as they stand in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en First Nation.
Firefighters from the Mohawk Fire Department were called in with OPP assistance to put out a significant sized blaze on the tracks around mid-morning.
Five trains have since moved through the area today, three eastbound and two westbound according to protestors.
A police presence is just north of the CN main rail line.
OPP Spokesman Bill Dickson says as of 3 p.m. today, no arrests have been made but protesters do continue to put debris on or adjacent to the tracks.
Via Rail has not resumed service through the Toronto-Montreal-Toronto-Ottawa corridor as of yet.
