Williams Family Statement
It’s with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our father John Ross Williams. John passed surrounded by his family supported by the region’s palliative care team in his 67th year. John was the man, defined by his get er’ done mentality and leadership. He was an incredible husband, father, brother, son, uncle, friend and poppa. He was a successful hotelier, alongside his late father Don Williams, founding Williams Hotels in 1979. His favourite time, however, was Mayor of Quinte West from 2006-2014, where he led the city in such legacy projects as the YMCA, the Trent Port Marina, and establishing a stronger bond with CFB Trenton at a time when it was needed. He helped lead, with the late Hugh O’Neil, the formation of the Afghanistan Repatriation Memorial, and later as Honorary Colonel of 8-wing, the Lav III memorial. John was an exeptional father and husband, married to Heather for 44 years, and father to Ryan and Brad. He was an incredible father in law to Ally and Anie, and by far he was an exeptional Poppa to Jack, Patrick, Teagan, the late Teddy, Zooey, and Charlotte. He was an amazing son to Audrey Williams, the late Don Williams, and best brother to Cathy and Louise, the late Elaine, and brother in laws Gary and Freeman. John leaves behind life long friendships. John will be no doubt barking like a dog, and singing like a pup in heaven and will be missed but always remembered. We love you dad, always! #quintewest #bayofquinte #williamshotels
