The cost of maintaining the two Long Term Care facilities in Belleville and Hastings County this year will include measures to increase staffing and resident care.
The Hastings-Quinte Long Term Care Committee has approved a 2020 budget of $30.7 million with the net cost of $6.3 million to the local governments, Hastings County, Belleville and Quinte West.
The biggest challenges for Hastings Manor in Belleville and Centennial Manor in Bancroft are the provincial funding levels, and moving toward the goal of four hours of care for each resident each day.
Director of Long Term Care Debbie Rollins tells Quinte News this shouldn’t be taken to mean that every single resident’s going to get four hours of care per day because everybody’s needs are different.
That goal is to increase the time from 2.85 to 3 hours of care in Belleville and from 2.98 to 3.1 in Bancroft.
Local contribution for Hastings Manor:
Belleville: 72%
Hastings County – 13.9%
Quinte West – 13.9%
Local contribution for Centennial Manor:
Hastings County – 41.8%
Quinte West – 41.8%
Belleville – 16.3%
The budget goes to Hastings County council on Thursday.
