Tyendinaga Mohawks protesting at the CN VIA Rail tracks say the Minister of Indigenous Affairs Marc Miller expects to announce the RCMP’s withdrawal from the Wet’suwet’en territory in British Columbia.
Mohawks are awaiting confirmation of the RCMP’s withdrawal from Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs on the ground in BC as well.
The protesters, in a statement written just after 1 o’clock this morning (Monday), said the RCMP leaving the BC territory has always been the main issue and that they want a peaceful resolution to issue as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, the blockade remains up in Tyendinaga. OPP had given the protesters up to midnight last night to leave the tracks and there would be no criminal charges laid but the Mohawks and supporters stood their ground.
Below is the entire statement.
