A Mohawk woman angrily confronted a group of about 10 members of the media, most national, waiting outside Mohawk Community Centre on York Road late Friday morning.
Using very colourful language, she said the media were “nasty dogs” who didn’t understand her people.
She said there was so much negative energy from the media’s coverage that it made her sick.
The media members quietly stood by while she ordered them off her land, before leaving the area.
The media group was gathered across the street from the centre which was the site of a Mohawk community celebration in honour of the visiting Hereditary Chiefs from the B.C. First Nation, who are at the centre of a dispute involving a proposed natural gas pipeline on their territory.
Meanwhile, according to CTV News, the Chiefs will hold a press conference Friday afternoon, at the CN track blockade on Wyman Road in Tyendinaga.
