The federal Minister of Health was in Quinte on Tuesday morning after visiting with staff and volunteers at CFB Trenton.
Patty Hajdu told reporters at the Hastings Prince Edward Health Unit, things on the base are running like a well oiled machine.
Hajdu says this is quite the endeavour as it is a first in the history of public health.
She assured that the safety of Canadians here in Canada and those returning are of the utmost importance.
8 Wing Commander Col. Ryan Deming also reiterated that the safety of everyone involved is their priority.
Hajdu did mention the warmth of Canadians and their generosity to make sure those in quarantine are as comfortable as possible through book and food donations.
So far no one at the base has developed symptoms of COVID-19 as the two week quarantine for the first group of repatriated Canadians nears the end.
CFB Trenton is expecting another flight of Canadians from the Diamond Princess cruise ship from Japan by the end of this week. Those Canadians will be screened at the base before moving on to Cornwall.
