The Belleville Police Service responded to 60 calls for service between February 15, 2020 at 5 a.m. and February 16, 2020 at 5 a.m.
Arrested on warrants
On February 15, 2020 at 2:40 p.m., police arrested a 39-year-old Belleville woman on Sidney Street on the strength of outstanding warrants. Her charges include theft under $5000 and two counts of failing to comply with a recognizance. She will appear in court on March 12, 2020.
On February 15, 2020 at 7:05 p.m., police arrested a 22-year-old Belleville woman on Haig Road. Her charges include mischief under $5000, theft under $5000, breach of a recognizance and failing to appear in court. She will appear in court on February 27, 2020.
On February 15, 2020 at 9:23 p.m., an officer checked a cyclist on West Moira Street who had no light on his bicycle. The male offered a false name which the officer recognized from a previous occurrence. The alias was linked to his true identity. A check under the real name revealed two warrants for his arrest. When the officer went to arrest the accused a struggle ensued. A second officer arrived on scene and assisted with the arrest. The second officer recognized the accused from a January 5 theft investigation at a local grocery store where he had provided a false name. New charges of resisting arrest and obstructing police were laid. The charges on the warrants included obstructing police and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order. The 37-year-old Belleville man was held for a bail hearing on February 16, 2020.
Disturbance
On February 16, 2020 at 4:35 a.m., an officer on patrol came across a disturbance on Pine Street at MacDonald Avenue. The investigation lead to the arrest of a 47-year-old Belleville woman for being intoxicated in a public place. She was issued a provincial offence notice.
