Prince Edward County produces a lot of good food, yet many people living in the county go hungry occasionally.
Prince Edward County council heard an in depth presentation on food insecurity from students and staff from the Prince Edward Learning Centre yesterday (Thursday).
They called on council to form a working group involving themselves and others to come up with solutions.
Councillor Jamie Forrester said a new Environmental Advisory Committee should bring everyone together.
The new committee meets soon and county staff is bringing a report to council in the near future regarding a streamlining of the effort to tackle social issues such as hunger, housing, and poverty.
The Prince Edward Learning Centre helps adults upgrade literacy and life skills, finish high school, and prepare for work or college.
Students and staff are planning to develop an affordable fresh food market in Picton.
