8 Wing Commander Col. Ryan Deming is reassuring the public the risk of transmission of the coronavirus is low.
At a very short press conference at Quinte West City Hall, 8 Wing Commander Col. Ryan Deming says they at CFB Trenton are cognizant of the potential health risks of housing over 200 people who were in the epicentre of the coronavirus outbreak in China and says they are taking the necessary precautions.
He said they have been working alongside their government partners all week to temporarily accommodate the several hundred Canadians returning from China, calling it a significant undertaking.
Deming says he has full confidence in their safety protocols.
The flight is expected to land at CFB Trenton sometime Friday morning.
Quinte West Mayor Jim Harrison says they at City Hall are prepared to assist in any way.
