There is some good news out of the H.J. McFarland Home in Picton today.
Officials there say a facility-wide stomach flu outbreak has ended.
The outbreak was declared in early January and at its peak, 55 residents and 50 staff members became ill.
While things have settled down, visitors should continue to follow basic hygiene practices and anyone who is already sick should avoid visiting the home altogether.
Prince Edward County Mayor Steve Ferguson is praising the staff for “working tirelessly to protect the health and wellness of the residents under extremely trying circumstances.”
