Bonn Law- Major Bantam (U15)
The Bonn Law Major Bantams continue to lead their division securing another 4 points this week with two shut out wins credited to goalies Ethan Beattie & Aidan Crowley. This takes their league record to 29-2-3.
The boys hosted Kingston Jr Gaels midweek and came away with a 3-0 win. They also hosted Richmond Hill Coyotes on Sunday for their annual Pink in the Rink event and skated to a 6-0 win. The team donned pink and raised funds for breast cancer research, exceeding $20,000 in their three years of participating in the event. This year’s total alone was just shy of $6,700. Thanks to all those who supported the team on this meaningful day.
The boys will continue to prepare and work hard in practice this week and look to make up games against the Barrie Colts and York Simcoe Express. You can take in some home ice action Sunday, February 9th at 130 at CAA when they play their final league game against the second positioned YSE.
McInroy Maines- Midget (U18)
The Quinte McInroy Maines Midget Red Devils went two for two this week in ETA league play.
The Red Devils defeated the Barrie Colts 4-2 on Thursday and then picked up their second win with a 7-3 victory over the Oshawa Generals.
Devils of the Day against Barrie were Trot Davis and Lucas Culhane while Michael Patrick got the honors against Oshawa.
World Elite Training- Major Atom (U11)
The World Elite Training Atoms made their final push to the playoffs playing three games this week.
On Friday, the team travelled to Clarington to take on the Toros. It wasn’t until the third period when the Devils got on the board. Camden Slone fired the puck and Maclean Chisholm popped in the rebound. Ryan Foley passed to Chase Cybulskie for the wrap around goal to tie the game. Unfortunately, the Toros scored with three seconds left to take the 3-2 win over the Devils.
Saturday, the Devils were back on the road to face off against the Whitby Wildcats. It was a fast game and each team was out to win. At the end of the first period, Brayden Davidson to Slone for the first goal of the game. Keegan Goulah to Cybulskie for the winning goal. Quinte wins 2-1 against the Wildcats and takes home two points.
The Devils were back at their home barn in Madoc for Sunday’s game against the Oshawa Generals. The Devils were hot! Nate Rashotte started off the scoring, followed by another goal by Cybulskie. In the second period- Wyatt Whalen, Goulah, Chisholm and Jake Gawley all found the back of the net. Quinte would go on to score one more goal by Goulah in the third period. The defence contributed most of the assists- Gabriel Davis, Blake Munnings, Seth Scaletta x 2, Pierson Clute, Ty Leavitt and Sloan were all helpers. Quinte wins 7-1 over Oshawa.
The World Elite Training Atoms finish their 35 game regular season with 52 points (24-7-4) which puts them in second place going into the playoffs. Go Quinte Go!
Foley Bus Lines- Minor Midget (U16)
The Foley Bus Lines Minor Midget Red Devils closed out their regular season on Saturday, Jan 25th as they hosted the Markham Waxers. Quinte got on the board in the first in this one and added another early in the second to go up by two. The Waxers scored to close the gap to one late in the second before the Devils scored a shorthanded goal to restore the two goal lead before the flood.
Although the stingy Waxers drew blood early in the third, the QRD boys managed to add a couple insurance markers three minutes apart mid frame of the third to close out the contest with the 5-2 victory. With the Devils first place finish in the regular season standings, they earned a first round bye and were able to put in a solid week of practice while they awaited the winner of the 4 points series between Clarington (9th place) and Barrie (8th place). Playing recently down a few players, the Devils had a chance to get healthy and work on some details in practice.
The QRD OMHA quarter final series will begin February 6th at home against Barrie. Also, don’t forget to mark your calendars for March 6-8th as the Foley Bus Lines 2004 Red Devils look to repeat as OMHA Champs as they host the OMHA AAA Minor Midget Championship at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre with hopes of representing the Quinte region at the OHL Cup March break in Toronto.
Novice (U9)
The Quinte Red Devils Novice AAA team had a successful start to their regular season in their first “full ice” league game this past weekend.
The Devils hosted the Oshawa Minor General on Saturday at RCAF arena, where they played a fantastic game for the large crowd of fans. In his first game back from an injury, Mason Whalen led the way for his team with an outstanding effort, that led to 2 goals and 2 assists and was awarded the “Team Heart Award” as the hardest working player of the game. Grady Riley and Thomas Marsden each added a pair of goals, while Noah Hughes, and Everett Brown each added single tallies. Carter Vansoelen, Emerson Hailstone, Brown, Marsden and Riley added additional assists in the 8-1 win for the Novice Red Devils. Matt Travers stood tall between the pipes in the team’s first home game.
The players would like to thank all their family and friends who attended the game and helped cheer them on! The Devils will hit the road next weekend, for two away games at Peterborough and Clarington.
