Quinte West council will be asked to change the way its fire department is dispatched to emergency scenes.
In a staff report council will deal with at its meeting tonight it’s being recommended that fire dispatch services be provided by the Belleville Fire Department.
It’s believed that changes required, with new technology coming in to effect, will be expensive and staff suggest it would be better to outsource fire dispatch services.
The Belleville Fire Department currently dispatches fire departments for every municipality in Hastings County with the exception of Quinte West.
A contract with Belleville would cost Quinte West $120,000 a year.
