The Belleville Police responded to 90 calls of service between 5 a.m. on January 31, 2020 and 5 a.m. on February 1, 2020.
Domestic assault
On January 31, 2020 at 10:30 p.m., officers received a call about a disturbance in an apartment on Victoria Avenue. As a result of the information received by officers, a 35-year-old Belleville man was arrested for domestic assault and uttering threats. He was held for a video remand on February 1. The victim did not suffer any injuries.
Fail to Stop
On January 31, 2020 at 7:30 p.m., an officer on North Park Street observed a vehicle driving erratically. When the officer turned on his emergency equipment the vehicle appeared to accelerate away. A short time later, the vehicle was observed rolled over at the corner of Chown and McPhee streets. The lone male driver exited the vehicle and was not injured. He was placed under arrest. Thirty-seven-year-old Daniel Heasemen of Belleville was charged with Dangerous Operation and Flight from Police. He was released on an Undertaking with a court date of Feb. 27. There were no injuries.
Theft
On January 31, 2020 at 2:30 p.m., officers attended a business on Bell Blvd. to speak with a security officer. Police received information that a woman attempted to leave the store with a basket full of items. Police continued the arrest. Jessica Whiteman, a 33-year-old Belleville resident, was charged with theft under $5,000. She was released at the scene on an appearance notice with a court date of February 23, 2020.
