A familiar face is leaving the Belleville Police Services Board after five years of service.
Tom Lafferty took part in his last meeting on Wednesday, telling the board, “It’s been an honour to serve and give police officers and staff the support they need to do their jobs properly.”
Chief Ron Gignac praised Lafferty for his work saying “he has moved the public safety yard sticks forward” during his tenure.
Mayor Mitch Panciuk says a new appointee to replace Lafferty on the board is forthcoming.
Meanwhile, Chair Jack Miller was re-elected to serve another one-year term, with Belleville Councillor Kelly McCaw re-elected as vice chair.
