The money is in, and now the work can begin.
Tuesday at the Brighton Skate Park, Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP David Piccini announced $125,000 for the construction of a new skate park.
The Trillium grant goes to support the overall cost of the project, which is $260,000.
Piccini says the great thing about Trillium Grants is that they come from the grassroots.
Brighton Mayor Brian Ostrander says the community support for the project has been amazing.
Brighton City Councillor Ron Anderson says the grassroots support for the project was needed.
The tender for the new park is expected to go out in April, and will be approved in May, with construction to start in the summer, and project completion expected for the fall.
Numerous individuals, the municipality, the Lions Club, Rotary, and Knights of Columbus, along with other community organizations and businesses were part of the efforts to get a new park.
