If you’re already thinking ahead to the spring gardening season you might want to get your name in for one of the City of Belleville’s community garden plots.
The program started in 2012 by the city’s Green Task Force and provides an alternative space for residents who have limited or no space for planting, to use one of the three community gardens at Ponton Park on Dundas Street West, in the West Hill on Octavia Street, or at Bayview Heights on Bay Drive.
Applications will be accepted until February 28, with plots being assigned by a lottery draw.
You can apply online by clicking here, by emailing gardens@belleville.ca, by calling 613-967-3200 ext. 3219, or in person at City Hall, the Belleville Public Library, or the operations centre on Wallbridge Crescent.
Anyone who has used the community garden program in the past is reminded that you do have to apply again each year.
