On Wednesday January 15, 2020, shortly after 1:00 p.m., officers from the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle travelling west on Highway 401 that was suspected to be involved in a theft reported to Lennox and Addington OPP.
Quinte West OPP Officers conducted a traffic stop just west of Wooler Road.
Stolen property from the Lennox and Addington theft and other property reported stolen in Peel Region was recovered.
Officers also seized a quantity of cocaine.
One person attempted to flee during the arrest, but was apprehended without incident.
Sutantarbir Singh, 24, of no fixed address and Navjot Singh, 26 years old of Brampton have been charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I Substance
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – two counts
Additionally, Navjot Singh, has been charged with:
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order – two counts
- Escape and Being at Large without Excuse
- Resist Peace Officer
The accused persons were held for bail and are scheduled to appear in court today at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
The Quinte West OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation at this time, additional charges are expected.
