A 32-year-old from Port Hope will appear in Cobourg court next month to answer to multiple charges following a traffic stop by police.
Northumberland OPP report on January 2 (yesterday) just before 8 p.m., an eastbound vehicle on the 401 was seen travelling at over 50 km/h over the speed limit and then passed an OPP vehicle.
The officer pulled the vehicle over and the driver revealed he had consumed alcohol and had just been involved in a fail to remain accident.
A search also revealed the driver was in possession of a prohibited knife.
Tyler Powers is charged with operation while impaired, carrying a concealed weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon as well as racing a motor vehicle, fail to remain and careless driving.
