Belleville Chamber of Commerce CEO Jill Raycroft says 2019 was a quick year and it didn’t seem there was enough time to address a lot of the factors that impact local business.
Raycroft says local businesses are doing well and there are opportunities for workers here, but believe it or not, the housing crisis is causing problems for business owners.
She says the organization spent a lot of time in 2019, not only supporting businesses in the city, but finding ways to support workers as well and noted that one partnership with the city, in the works for a few years, was a highlight on that front for 2019.
Raycroft says heading into 2020, they’ll continue to work to make strides on the housing front, while also strengthening relationships with upper levels of government, to support local businesses.
She says the fact that there is no election this year may help to get a little bit more done on both fronts.
