The head of the Quinte West Chamber of Commerce says 2019 was a busy year.
Suzanne Andrews gave her year end comments to Quinte News and says along with supporting local businesses, the organization had a lot of big items that it worked on.
Andrews was also proud of the chambers re-accreditation from the Chamber Accreditation Council of Canada, which she says lets local businesses know that they are using all of the best practices and are doing everything they can to support businesses in Quinte West.
She added that one of the biggest issues facing the city’s business community and affecting the whole region, country and beyond, is the lack of skilled workers.
Andrews added that the skills gap also poses a challenge, that will need to be addressed moving into 2020.
And she says they’ll be leaning on the provincial government to come up with new programs and initiatives to support local businesses in facing that challenge and others.
