The annual holiday appeal for funds to support family and children’s services in the Greater Napanee and Kingston areas has topped its goal for 2019.
The Tree of Hope campaign of Family and Children’s Services of Frontenac, Lennox and Addington raised $60,000, $20,000 over its goal.
This will help 725 kids.
Officials say when the goal figure was in doubt last week, money poured in, temporarily breaking the online “giving platform” the campaign uses.
Tree of Hope helps children served by the Children’s Aid Society with toys, clothing and more.
Almost half were under the age of nine, including nearly 30 infants.
Another forty percent were between nine and seventeen.
About half of those helped were outside of Kingston, including nearly 90 from Napanee alone.
Officials say the extra money raised will go to year-round support, including summer camps in July.
