At least one lane on a section of the westbound Highway 401 in the Napanee area has reopened after a massive pile up around the lunch hour.
Lennox and Addington OPP say close to 30 vehicles were involved including cars, tractor trailers and a dump truck, as a rapidly moving snow squall moved through the area.
An exact number wasn’t provided, but police say there were numerous patients taken to hospital with various injuries, while others were taken to the Strathcona Paper Centre to warm up, while the scene was cleared up.
The highway was closed between County Road 41 and County Road 10 for about four hours and police say there are still vehicles in the ditch in the area, which will be removed once weather and road conditions improve.
