Quinte News took a look back at the year that was 2019 in Prince Edward County.
Mayor Steve Ferguson says it was a year with a number of accomplishments.
He says they reestablished the environmental advisory committee and began licensing short-term accommodation properties.
Another win included the H.J. McFarland long-term care facility.
Other priorities council fulfilled included setting aside funds to tackle affordable housing and food insecurity.
The year didn’t come without its struggles though said Mayor Ferguson.
There were very high water levels in Prince Edward County which was a challenge for the municipality to deal with.
Another challenge that faced Prince Edward County in 2019 was a tax hike as reserves were depleted.
