Don’t forget to say hello and drop some coins or quiet money into the Salvation Army’s kettles when you’re out and about.
There are less than 14 days to go and there is still a long way to go to reach the Belleville Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign goal.
This year’s goal is $300,000 and as of yesterday (Monday) a little more than half, or almost $152,000 has been raised.
Last year, just under $300,000 was raised when all was said and done.
The Kettle Campaign is by far the Army’s largest source of revenue, paying for the thousands of lunches and warm meals offered at the Family and Community Services headquarters on Pinnacle Street, as well as for an emergency food bank and some clothing, all aimed at helping the community’s less fortunate.
Unfortunately the demand for the services of the Salvation Army has been growing steadily in recent years.
The campaign ends December 23.
