Belleville Police had to chase down the driver of an alleged stolen vehicle last night as he tried to make a break for it.
At 11:35 p.m. last night, police received a call about a possible impaired driver on Sidney Street.
Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to pull over. Police then tried to block the vehicle which resulted in the man making contact with the two police cruisers as he attempted to flee the scene.
The 54-year-old man from the Greater Toronto Area then tried to make a run for it off the road and through a ditch before getting stopped at a nearby railroad track and arrested by police.
The man is being held in custody for a bail hearing on charges of flight from police, dangerous driving, possession of stolen property, and driving while under suspension.
