Brighton Council has rejected a suggestion a Loyalist College student be hired to prepare an inventory of unopened road allowances.
Councillor Craig Kerr told council last night he felt the work was necessary, but C-A-O Gayle Frost said there are many policies that need attention, and it would likely take 12 to 18 months to prepare them.
Hiring another student would also force council to reopen the budget, since the deadline for student hiring submissions had already passed and Brighton would have to pay the full cost.
