Stirling-Rawdon council will be discussing the makeup of its Business Improvement Association (BIA) at a special meeting tonight (Tuesday).
Mayor Bob Mullin says some business owners have complained that only businesses in the village’s downtown core benefit from the special taxes paid to the association.
Unlike most communities which limit BIAs to just the downtown core, every business in the entire village of Stirling pays taxes to the organization.
Mullin, who will declare a conflict of interest on the issue, comments,
Council could decide to have only businesses located in the village’s downtown core pay into the BIA.
The special meeting begins at 7 o’clock tonight.
