Quinte West Council is supporting a resolution from the Ontario Health Coalition to continue a campaign to “save local healthcare”.
The resolution notes the negative impact of recent cutbacks on health care spending by the provincial government and has been circulated to municipalities across the province.
In passing the motion, the City of Quinte West is calling for the province to “halt the closures of, mergers of and cuts to our local health care services, including public health units, land ambulance services, hospitals and long-term care homes.
There was no immediate mention of how many other municipalities have supported the resolution.
