One of three Kingston men charged in the August 2018 murder of a man from the hamlet of Trent River in Trent Hills has been sentenced.
According to Today’s Northumberland 23-year-old Steffan Hache was sentenced to 11 years in federal penitentiary after pleading guilty to manslaughter after 43-year-old Scott McDonald was killed on the driveway of a residence in Trent River, which is north of Campbellford.
He had been originally been charged with second degree murder and robbery.
Court in Cobourg heard that Hache had intended to rob McDonald, a known drug dealer, of cocaine but when McDonald fought with Hache he was shot dead with a .22 calibre rifle.
Two others charged, Christopher Hulsman and Andrew Misztal, remain in custody and before the courts.
